THAPOVAN - RESORT

Thapovan resorts in Kodaikanal sprawls around 20 acres. This is a farm stay that has a blend of built forms in the midst of a newly evolved farm carrying a rich fauna of hill bananas, avocados, mango, jackfruit, coffee, pepper, and vegetables. Thapovan has been conceptualized and imbibed by us right from scratch. The buildings are carefully spaced in such a way that we have not lost a single tree during the evolution of the complete project. Having achieved this, we could see the trees jutting out in the interiors of toilets, dining and living spaces. The resort includes a fantabulous entry with an array of hill banana plantations on either side leading to the reception area and the banquet hall. There is a Multicuisine restaurant under the biggest mango tree on the site. Adjacent to the restaurant is a holy tree named Adhvithyam, which is 120 years old and is prayed by the tribals of the Vazhaigiri valley. The lobby area is situated at the highest altitude of the site, overlooking the mountains. The elevation of the lobby frames the picturesque beauty of the morning sunrise from behind the hills. It encompasses a seating lounge facing the hill and an indoor play area. Both the restaurant and the lobby doesn’t have walls on all four sides, allowing the flow of the landscape from one level to the other. The garden party space includes a large amphitheater that can accommodate 200 pax, with a stage having nature as a backdrop of hill banana plantations. There is a Mindgym play area and an outbound activity center, which includes rope and climbing activities. There are two campfire areas for cozy night time hangouts.

THE VILLAS

Orchard:

These villas are individual cottages named Avacado and Plantain, located at the highest altitude. This has an open-to-the-sky courtyard and a room with an open-to-the-sky toilet of 450 sq ft.

Blooming Woods:

: These villas are located at the lowest point of the site with an area of 550sq.ft, which is strategically placed next to a natural stream, so the waterbody renders a beautiful view from the individual villas, and the sound enthralls the one who stays there. There are six villas of this kind named Aambal, Brahmakamalam, Kandhal, Kondrai, and Athiral, which have open-to-the-sun courtyards and open-to-the-sun toilets attached to them.

Chirping Woods:

These villas are situated at mid-altitude overlooking the mountain on the opposite side with an area of 750 to 1300sq.ft. These villas have the names of the native birds, like the sunbird, tailor bird, and Myna. These villas vary from single-bedroom to three-bedroom independent villas with attached toilets. There are two swimming pool private villas apart from this in the above cluster.

Luxury tents:

These are luxury tents made out of steel and fabric that are styled like dorms with an area of 600sq.ft, accommodating 20 people each, named after hardwood trees called Eucalyptus and Ashoka.
